Privacy notice

Last updated October 21, 2026.

Off Your Chest Show is a show from JD Elius Media, part of JD Elius Company ("we", "us"). This notice explains what information we collect through offyourchestshow.com and the show, why, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

Participation requests

When you send a request on our Share Your Story page, we collect:

  • how you'd like to take part (phone or video) and how you'd like to appear (anonymous or first name),
  • your preferred contact method and the phone number or email address you give us,
  • a first name or nickname,
  • your general availability, time zone, and an optional short timing note,
  • your confirmation of the acknowledgments on the form, and the date and time you sent it.

We don't ask for your story, health information, or your full legal name in the form, and we ask you not to include them.

Emails and calls

If you email or call us, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your email address or phone number and your message.

Website visits

We don't use advertising or analytics cookies on this website. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. To limit repeated or automated requests, we store a one-way scrambled code derived from your connection for up to one day; it isn't stored with your request. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts load.

How we use it

  • to contact you about taking part in the show, and to arrange and prepare your participation,
  • to respond to your emails and calls,
  • to keep the website and the show secure and to prevent spam and abuse.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use participation requests for marketing.

Who can see it

Participation requests are stored privately with our hosting provider and can be viewed only by authorized members of our production team. They are never published, never placed in web addresses, and never sent to analytics or advertising services. When a new request arrives, our team may receive an email alert that says only that a request arrived; it contains no personal details.

We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that it's necessary to protect someone's life or safety.

How long we keep it

Participation requests are deleted automatically 30 days after they're received. You can ask us to delete your request sooner by emailing hello@offyourchestshow.com with the contact details you used.

Recording and broadcasting

The show is recorded and broadcast publicly, and recordings may be published as episodes, replays, and clips on our website, podcast platforms, and social media. Your producer will explain this and ask for your consent before you go on air. See recording & broadcast for details.

Anonymity and its limits

Anonymous is our default. Unless you tell us you'd like your first name used, we won't say your name on air.

Anonymous means anonymous to our audience. Our production team still knows the contact details you give us so we can reach you. And because the show is broadcast, we can lower the chance of you being recognized but we can't promise it never happens:

  • People who know you may recognize your voice.
  • On video, your face, room, and background can identify you.
  • Specific details in your story, like names, places, workplaces, or dates, can identify you or others.
  • Social media platforms and streaming services have their own privacy policies that we don't control.

Your producer will talk through these limits with you before you go on air, and you can change your mind at any point before then.

Social media and third-party services

If you contact us or comment on social media, or join through a service like StreamYard, that platform's own privacy policy applies to what you share there. Public comments are visible to others and aren't confidential. Please don't post private information publicly.

Age

The show is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect participation requests from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has sent us a request, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw from participating at any time before your segment starts by emailing hello@offyourchestshow.com.

Changes

If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
